Zhao Wei's "Warriors of Heaven and Earth" has been officially selected by the Board of Film as mainland China's only candidate to compete for the "Best Foreign Picture" at next year's Oscar. More to this, it may run for other categories, if Columbia, as one of Warriors investor and american distributor, manage to screen the film before the Oscar deadline.

It'll probably get a lot more attention due to the lack of Miramax's involvement...

like a TV star in a cinema epic?
It’s like she’s too thin, or too short or, or, or something. Also she doesn’t look Chinese. She looks Portugese or French or Spanish or Isreali. Looking like she does, I’d probably put her into something where the script could explain why she looks like that. Like SO CLOSE.
I like her hair. The rest is all wrong.
Not very much buz about this. Looks like distribution is lined up though.
Wasn’t there a Japanese version of this a few years back?

Warriors has been premiered in Beijing and Shanghai and received some good reviews. Audiences generally think it's a better movie than Hero. Warriors will be released nationwide in China on the 1st of October, China's national day.

She’s a tv star from PRC... and a wanna-be cinema actress. Vicky Who? Why Vicky Zhao, that’s who.
We wish her the best of luck. She’ll need it. Not that we care much.

Warriors had released nationwide on the 1st of October, China's national day. Critics and audience alike is overwhelmingly in favor of Warriors and think it's a much better movie than Hero.
Thanks for the clarification. I thought you might be talking about some other girls named Vicki Zhou.
