For those of you like myself who didn't make it to the theaters over the weekend to see Secondhand Lions, the official ROTK trailer is now online. Looks like a neat little movie. They might sell a few tickets. ;-)

Simply put: the stuff legends are made of. Aragorn's speech rivals that of William Wallace in Braveheart and that's not an easy task.
Andruil looks amazing and I am sure the Southrons and Easternlings will fear it.
The best thing about the LOTR saga is by the time the Extended Edition of ROTK comes out, the movie will be strengthed and made even better. Since the TTT Extended Edition is coming out soon, I'm pretty geeked.

This may win an award for special effects.
These things really won’t win much more. Maybe sound. Nothing on the screen is real...or matters. Damned cornfusing, too.
I like the elf-girls.
Maybe the story is just too complicated for me.

A truly powerful film. The best fight scenes (in terms of army fights on a massive scale) I've ever seen.
What impresses me most about Return of the King is the solid acting and emotional depth. In many science fiction or fantasy films, the special effects dominate the film. All you come back saying is "Did you see how cool that wraith looked" or "How tight that explosion was?"
It reminds me of CTHD in a sense. Most martial arts films were dominated solely by the fighting. But with CTHD, you had a cast of strong actors giving good performances and emotional power outside of the fighting.
Even without the fighting and the effects, I feel ROTK is still powerful. Much in the same way CTHD was powerful to me.

Just saw the movie today, I loved it! Made me tear up several times, but it's a very good movie. Good acting, battle scenes, everything.

it’s just one part of three things. The whole thing needs a prize. The Academy can’t grasp the enormnity of the thing. Frankly, neither can I...but I think it’s because I’m weak, not the films.
I saw this collector’s action figger of Gollum at the super-market today for $70. I looked at it really closely and it was hand-painted, I think. The problem is that it didn’t look like Gollum except for how it was undressed and climbing around on some rocks. It looked exactly like Niles Crane from Frasier.

The Academy does not look upon fantasy or science fiction films with favor. Just as FOTR and TTT recieved best picture nominations, they failed to win. Several other movies from these genres in the past were nominated and failed to win as well. I think the Academy might have a bias against these films because they have never won Best Picture or Best Director for their efforts.

I’ve been a fan of Tim Burton. Every one of his films is original...yet never completely over the top. Every film demostates mastery of the medium from the acting to the screenwriting to the music to the effects.
After producing a substantial body of work...no oscar. I don’t think anyone but me...takes him seriously. It takes a long time.
Ridley Scot has been making good fiilms from quite a while. The academy has only recently spotted him. I don’t think his films are as good as they used to be...but they’re always interesting.
Jackson is up against some stiff competition this year. I think MYSTIC RIVER will be best picture. HULK may win something. (HAHA, best animated.)
I don’t think the Academy will give Ang Lee an Oscar because if they do...he’ll never stop making odd-ball films.

Speaking of Tim Burton, did you know he directed Pee Wee's Big Adventure? I thought that was a funny movie.
 oops, well at least there are some challenging nominations for the Oscars next year.
