like big-time fun.
Peter Weir films are usually pretty good. Russell Crowe looks like the perfect mariner.

I'm waiting for The Last Samurai. They say it rocks big time.

What exactly do you mean by "big-time" fun?

Historical. Authenticity.
The sea battle in the trailer looks impressive.
Underdog emerges triumphant in the face of heavy odds. Haha, maybe that sort of thing only appeals to me. I like SEA HAWK, too.

They being me, myself and I, along with Moe, Larry, Shemp and Curly.
That makes 7 theys, and I'm not even including the voices in my head that tell me to eat Eskimo Pies at 3 in morning.

Depends on how fairly they treat the Japanese. Personally, I think Japan between 1500 and 1940, is the most fascinating historical record, next to the Romans of Ceaser and the culture of BC Egypt.
Much of it defies belief.
It’ll be a feast, or a faux pas.

I have absolutely no interest in either of these movies.
And that Russel Crowe... ever since that Gladiator over CTHD thing... grrr.:D

Brainchild, how come you stopped at 1940? I mean in 1945 they were the only nation to have atomic weapons dropped on them, and after 1945 they had one of the most unbelievable economic recoveries ever. Doesn't that count as fascinating?

December 8, 1941.
They should have stayed home on the 7th.
It is interesting that the A-bombs got dropped on Japan.
I think it was over for Japan on December 8th, 1941. That point will continue to be argued, but not by me.
I wouldn’t have dropped those bombs.

No doubt they should have stayed home on December 8, 1941. You just don't mess with the world’s largest manufacturing power. At least if you do, you follow up Pearl Harbor and bomb the sh*t out of as many manufacturing cities as you can. However, all this is interesting, and I think any historian would include the finale of World War 2 into the fascinating period of Japanese history. At the close of WW2, the emperor of Japan had to quit playing God. That is just weird, wild, stuff.
Oh, and TLS is an obvious Oscar attempt by Tom Cruise(historical epic, those old white guys who vote for those things love that stuff), so it better be good.

A nautical film with seamen. Hahahahahaha.
Russell Crowe vs Keanu Reeves at the box office. Should be interesting.

There's "Finding Nemo" and then there's "Finding Neo", whom I predict will be found face down at the bottom of the Big Blue, courtesy of the Master And Commander.

A nautical film with seamen. Hahahahahaha.
Jesus man. 3rd grade potty humor is still your fancy?
J/k, I loved it myself.

the Rottontomato M&C forum. Those guys are utterly ruthless. Hahahaha. I think they may be homophobes...you can imagine what they have to say about long sea-journeys...with no women. Arrrrgh and shiver me timbers, matey.
I think this is probably a fanciful film with some gritty realistic sea battles. Like THE SEA HAWK.

Only in America can a guy like that have a breakout role like that. He’s the man.
Now he has box-office.
